Forever Young 2011 calendars are out and about town after six months of preparations. The brain-child of Ruth McWayne shows photos of seniors from the greater Stayton area jumping rope, swinging, blowing bubbles, sliding down slides, and playing tug-of-war, hopscotch, jacks and marbles, among other activities designed for “kids at heart.”
“These make great gifts,” McWayne said. “Christmas is right around the corner. We hope that the people in the Santiam region will support their senior center by getting one of more calendars for themselves or as gifts for special seniors in their lives.”
Donations of $10 will go to support programs, improvements, acquisitions and operating expenses at the Santiam Senior Center, a non-profit organization serving seniors in the greater Stayton area.
Calendars are available at the Santiam Senior Center, Stayton/Sublimity Chamber of Commerce, Stayton Cooperative Telephone Co., Fresh to You Produce, The Donut Shop, Hair for All, Stayton Pharmacy, Dairy Queen, A&W Drive-In and Postal Connections.
“Our message is we may have to grow older, but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to play!” said McWayne, who designed the calendar. Celine Chamberlin shot the photos, and Employment Resources Northwest in Salem printed the calendars.
