Clowns back for SummerFest

SummerFest organizers are looking forward to another busy day of events Saturday, July 28, drawing up to 10,000 people and more than 100 businesses, arts, crafts and food booths to Third Avenue in downtown Stayton. Activities run along Third from Washington to Water and at Pioneer Park.

Kicking off the festivities will be the Stayton Volunteer Firefighters Sunrise Breakfast, 7 to 11 a.m. at Pioneer Park Lunch will be served 11 to 1 p.m.

The SummerFest Car Show in Pioneer Park in expected to draw 250 entries on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Many of the activities going on are free,” Kelly Schrieber, Stayton/Sublimity Chamber of Commerce executive director said. “The event helps people see what businesses we have. It’s good for the local economy – and it’s great family fun!”

Clowns Are in Town Parade: stages at 9 a.m. at Third and Burnett parading to Florence. Info: 503-769-3489.

KidZone: 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., arts, crafts, games, petting zoo, bounce house, face painting. Tickets 25 cents. US Bank parking lot, Third and Marion.  Info: 503-769-3464.

Family Dog Show: 9 a.m. registration, show at 10 a.m. at Third and Virginia. No fee. Info: 503-769-7387.

Brown House Tours: see how the restoration is progressing. First Avenue, next to the library. Shuttle available.

Victorian Fashion Show: 11 a.m. to noon, Stayton House Antiques & Curiosities, 784 N. Third Ave. Admission $5, proceeds to the Santiam Heritage Foundation.

Local Talent and Entertainment Stage: 10 a.m.-4 p.m., city parking lot, Third and Florence. Music, dance and activities.
