Two charged with hindering child death investigation

The mother of a Stayton man suspected of killing an Albany toddler has been charged along with her husband for allegedly attempting to help the defendant flee jurisdiction.

Aleasha Lorraine Castro, 47, and Rommel Angel Duran Castro, 40, both of Stayton, have been charged in Linn County Circuit Court with hindering the prosecution of Alexzander Israel Bentley-Lopez, 23.

Castro allegedly attempted to help her son flee the state and potentially flee the country, according to prosecutors, while he was under investigation for the Oct. 20, 2025, death of Kyrie Anthony Glisan, 2.

Glisan died after being admitted that morning to Albany General Hospital with suspicious injuries. As of press time an investigation into the cause and manner of Glisan’s death remained open, according to the Albany Police Department.

Police attempted to contact Bentley-Lopez Oct. 30, 2025, and Castro as well as Duran Castro, Bentley-Lopez’ step-father, allegedly helped him evade authorities. Prosecutors claim Castro and Duran Castro knew at the time Bentley-Lopez was under investigation for a felony.

Bentley-Lopez was later arrested in Medford Nov. 5, 2025, and remains lodged without bail in the Linn County Jail.

Castro and Duran Castro appeared in court for arraignment Jan. 21 and 28, respectively, and were released on their own recognizance. Both face up to five years in prison if convicted as charged.

While investigating Glisan’s death, authorities found grounds to charge Bentley-Lopez with allegedly assaulting and kidnapping Glisan’s mother and the alleged physical and sexual abuse of a 3-year-old boy. He has been charged with offenses including first-degree kidnapping, fourth-degree assault, coercion, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, first-degree sexual abuse, using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, third-degree assault and first-degree criminal mistreatment.

If convicted as charged, Bentley-Lopez faces at least 25 years in prison due to the age of the alleged sexual assault victim.
