Ballots arriving for Stayton pool and parks levy

Ballots for the Nov. 4 election will be mailed out Oct. 15 by the Marion County Clerk’s Office, with local voters being asked to consider a five-year levy to support local parks and Stayton Family Memorial Pool.

Titled Measure No. 24-515, the levy would impose $1.10 per $1,000 of assessed value for five years starting July of 2026.

This is 120% higher than the current levy of $0.50 per $1,000 due to increased costs related to personnel, equipment and materials. Because costs have outpaced the current levy, the city had to expend $344,100 from the general fund during the prior fiscal year to support pool and parks operations. The proposed levy is expected to prevent this need for subsidization.

Potential voters who have not registered have until Oct. 14 to do so. Once filled out, a ballot may be returned to a valid drop box or by mail by Nov. 4.

Those with questions may call the clerk’s office at 503-588-5225.
