Aumsville woman arrested for alleged horse abuse

An Aumsville woman has been arrested for allegedly torturing a horse and authorities are seeking information regarding any similar instances of alleged abuse.

Geneva Marie Boston, 28, was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated animal abuse, which carries up to five years in prison.

They received a report Sept. 4 that Boston was seen on camera whipping a horse repeatedly on the back and face with no apparent objective other than to cause the animal pain. In the video, a young woman alleged to be Boston gives the horse no commands during the 90-second incident, and whip marks can be seen across the animal’s back.

Deputies responded to the 9300 block of Smith Rd. SE to investigate the matter and ultimately found grounds to place Boston under arrest and lodged her in the Marion County Jail. Boston has since been released and the matter has been referred to prosecutors for potential indictment.

Deputies are asking the public to come forward with any additional information about the incident in question or any other alleged animal abuse by Boston. Detective Jeremy Schwab can be reached at 503-930-6294 and or by email at [email protected].

Boston previously ran afoul of the law in 2021 after allegedly scamming a McMinnville teenager who was trying to re-home her horse before moving to college in Virginia.

According to NW Horse Report, Boston took possession of the horse under a trial purchase agreement when the alleged victim moved to school. Boston then claimed the horse suddenly died and she did not have to honor the purchase agreement, but it was later revealed Boston sold the horse at auction in Montana.

Boston was accused of laundering the title to the horse and local law enforcement became involved. No charges were filed and the horse was returned to the owner in a civil settlement.
