The Gates Fire District Emergency Services Support group has raised more than a $500,000 toward the development of their new community fire hall. Of that half a million, the effort has raised approximately $250,000 in cash and pledges. Additionally, they’ve received approximately $259,000 of in-kind services toward the project.
The community has demonstrated its support of this capital construction project not only in the way of money, but also in the form of letters of support.
“We have received nearly 75 letters of support from community members, businesses and organizations. The encouragement for this project is outstanding,” said Gates Fire Chief Gary Swanson, who also serves as the GFDESS executive director.
The amount raised from cash and pledges includes personal donations, as well as community fundraiser efforts. The committee has put on several successful benefit events, including last year’s dinner and auction “Roses & Hoses” and two “Treasure Sales”.
The total project cost is $2.7 million. With a number of grant applications in the wings, the group expects the fundraising momentum to continue.
