Hospital presents ‘Unmurder’ golf tournament

Preparations are being finalized for the Aug. 24 Unmurder Mystery Golf Tournament presented by Santiam Hospital.

The 8 a.m. shotgun start will signal the beginning of the third annual tournament at Santiam Golf Club, 8724 Golf Club Road, Aumsville. Check in begins at 7 a.m. Teams of four will play 18 holes in scramble format. The Chill Grill food truck will be on site offering lunch for players.

The tournament is presented to promote prescreening for health concerns. Golfers will find clues along the course which will make them eligible for prizes. Hospital physicians and staff will be on hand to provide information about the importance of prescreening.

A full morning of fun on the course will feature games, activities, a drawing and snacks. Prizes will be awarded for the foursome which correctly selects the clue answers, the lowest scoring foursome, and women’s and men’s KP and LD winners.

Many businesses and organizations are sponsoring holes on the course, and others have provided prizes.  Opportunities remain to become a sponsor.  Call 503-884-1336 for information.

A limited amount of space is still available for foursomes. The cost is $75 per person and that includes 18 holes of golf, carts, and a drink ticket.

This year a portion of each sponsorship and player fee benefits the Santiam Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund. Auxiliary members have raised and distributed more than $10,000 to help local students pursuing a career in the medical or health services field.

For an entry form, go to www.santiamhospital.org or call 503-769-2175.
