Aumsville Community Theatre is taking its newest play on the road. Nunsense, dubbed a “hilarious spoof about five nuns putting on a talent show as a fundraiser” by director Shannon Rempel, will run in Mill City, Shaw and Macleay.

Funds raised at The Toast of Stayton event are a great start to the $1 million Stayton Public Library Foundation board members hope to raise in the near future to help support library services.
The Stayton Booster Club is working hard to rebuild community trust in the wake of an investigation into missing funds from its treasury. “We have put some safeguards in place and shored up policies and procedures,” Booster Club President Jodi Hack said.
“We usually raise between $2,000 to $3,000 from the sale,” said Carole Tabor, who is chairing the Oct. 6-8 event at the Stayton Community Center. “The money funds extras for the library throughout the year.” Friends of the Library funds the library copy machine, youth summer reading programs, movie licensing and special exhibits.
Ten years ago, Colt Davis opened Stayton Self Defense to help others become physically fit. “I wanted to help people learn how to defend themselves and lead healthier lives,” said Davis, who owns the business with his wife, Wanda, and friend, Brian Wiltse.
